As You Find It I'm gonna follow this track Through the scrub and down to the road I've got the wind at my back Got my collar up against the cold Gonna race straight down Through the scrub and down through the lot And in less than an hour I could be standing right there by your door Heading out in the dark Gonna stand up and strain as I pedal hard Take it as you find it
2.
Alice 04:53
Alice She liked to think of them as creatures Lining up along the road right there on display Sometimes she would tell them secrets Lean her head against the frame, watching them sway Or watch the back of his neck She collected sounds and pieces Of what she heard behind the door in the darkened hall Crouched beneath the phone, in shadow She kept a careful list of what she might use them for Oh light of mine Looking like she means it Oh light of mine Like you know she feels it Oh light of mine
3.
When The Lights Go Down I'll be there, out there in the crowd I'll arrive alone, and I'll be by myself when I leave to go When the lights go down, I'll be staring out I want you to know this feels like my private show Course I know all the words And I know just how that pretty mouth of yours Whispers and curls Swaying gently along Under my breath I'll sing harmony to my favourite songs Well I'm hardly shy, but when it comes to this If I could make you see, you'll be glad I did So I'll dream of this as I watch you play Honey I'm oh so sure we're gonna meet some day
4.
Northern Town There's a boy in a northern town Street lights shining all around Thinks to himself what he's missed He says I just want to tell you this There's a girl out there that I've known And it's her that I'm thinking of Kicks himself for what he could've had He says I just wanna see you so bad There's a girl in the countryside She's looking up in to a starry night Singing no-one's gonna pin me down But I'd sure like you to come around If only you could come around
5.
Under The Night The blinds are up, I'm watching the sky I can't sleep, it's been the longest night Replaying what you said It churns with the chop and whir of the fan above this bed I'm on fire I wanna be by your side We were stretched out under the night High above the heavy traffic and the sirens screaming by Stayed up to meet the light Held me in your arms that time and you said Oh what would it be like Driving down these thoughts of you Another lousy night in another noisy room But that 'what would it be like' Keeps clamoring underneath all these other people's dogs and cars and fights
6.
Over In Threes Wind is whipping this place apart Rattling windows and a rattling heart Birds are flying over in threes Lighting up briefly in the trees You know it's nasty and you know its name The question's ugly but the fact remains Just standing there in broad daylight He takes another kick from the right Streaks of grey across a white-wash sky You don't forget the first big lie Just like you don't forget the first big hit This fella's mean streak is a mile wide You can bet he'll burn it up tonight Swig from cans behind his bright headlights You can bet he's saddled up to ride The question's ugly but the fact remains
7.
Please Don't Let's Begin Letters carved out with a blade Left and right, a circle made Two names scratched here Charred branch, ten years Left and right, a circle formed Would come apart but for this warmth Left alone will come undone You can't rely on winter sun Oh the time it takes First unravels, then it breaks Please don't let's begin Untended gardens fall Prey to weeds and undergrowth Then through a drought nine seasons long The shock of rain, a flood's begun
8.
The Basic Rules Could you send me away to join a traveling show One where people pay to go to see terrifying displays Of derangement and will Cos I reckon I've got one that'd top the bill Oh I'd stand before the crowd, Baby let me show you how And how they'd roar - She's really gonna do it for sure! I'll tear myself apart It's a woman breaking her own heart I'll keep pushing trouble and strife Till something gives in When I can't make the pieces fit As you crash against the news Then you tell me what you want me to do So tell me how And what we're s'posed to do with this now As I fall against the thought That I've just gotta shake it off You keep pushing trouble and strife Till something gives in When you can't make the pieces fit
9.
Before the Cold please, no please no not you too please not both my sons not both at once, like this come back come back and see this town come and lay down your arms i beg of you how come how come you're drawn to this i find it hard to recognise these soldiers of mine how can you reconcile yourself to this hold on i hold on to the past before the cold crept inside you had the clearest eyes your father and i watched you wonder, laugh and cry for gentler things

Open Sky 05:30
Open Sky I'll leave you with the crowd and the coloured lights All the happy noise the drunken laughing shouts Tonight I'm just a broken girl I can barely trust even my own self So I'm warning you, I'm telling you straight I have gotten lost along the way So keep a hold of those birds and the key I'm not sure you understand that I'm not what you've hoped I could be Tonight I'm stuck a lonely girl Who can barely face her own sorry self So I'm warning you, I'm telling you plain I don't know how it happened but I got lost along the way I'm not yours, you're not mine And I don't think that feels like Any kind of open sky It's painful but it's true, I'm no good to you And anyone can see that this is no good for me Cos I'm not yours, you're not mine And I don't think that feels like Any kind of open sky
